Thrice as Nice: D.C. On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
|
The D.C. Divided and the Seattle Rocketeers will take the Third League Championship to a decisive th game. The Divided got a dramatic walk-off victory in a must-win situation today to beat the Rocketeers 7-5 at Washington Stadium and force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Seattle center fielder Glyn Bolasky was named player of the game in a losing effort after he went 2-6 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs.
D.C. won the game in the bottom of the 16th inning. With two outs and Alexander Goodpasture on the mound for Seattle, catcher Gustavo González hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Divided fans to their feet.
"We lost," Seattle manager Andrew Powell said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
