New Orleans first baseman Jorge Alejándrez rose to the occasion at The BFIB today, earning player of the game honors after driving the Voodoo to a crucial Game victory over the St. Louis Coeur. Alejándrez was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk as the Voodoo took the 8-2 win to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.

New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Colm Goodwill to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 2-1. For the game, Goodwill had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

After the game, Alejándrez refused to speak to a reporter for the New Orleans Daily. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
