Almost There: Charleston On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 4-3 Win
Portland left fielder Blaze Alexander pounded Charleston Battery pitchers at Charleston Armory, but it was not enough to keep the Evergreens from falling, 4-3 in Game of the Silver League Championship. Alexander went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Evergreens slip to a - deficit in the best-of- series.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Joey Coco came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Raúl Romero, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Charleston on top, 4-3.

"I'm not sweating it," Portland manager Brandon Slouck told reporters after the loss. "We'll recover. They say it's all about winning games, but I would put up with a heck of a lot of losses as long as we hoist that trophy at the end of the year."
