Almost There: Philadelphia 1776 On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 1-0 Win
|
In a pivotal Game , the Philadelphia 1776 BC were hoping for a big game from starter Juriaan Roos. They got one.
The right-hander shut out the Brooklyn Dodgers, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 1-0 victory. The BC took the 1-0 win over the Brooklyn Dodgers to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jake Grant came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Elroy Thompkins, he hit a 2-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia 1776 on top, 1-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Philadelphia 1776 manager Matt Addison.
