Third League Championship Game 1 goes to Panama City Thanks to Román Mejía
|
The Panama City Piranhas moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Boston Patriots at The Tank by a score of 5-3. Piranhas right-hander Román Mejía was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Piranhas a - advantage in the best-of- Third League Championship.
With two out in the bottom of the third, António Mendoza barreled up a slider from Alberto López. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Piranhas in front, 3-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Mendoza told the Panama City Today.
