The Philadelphia 1776 BC got a superb performance from pitcher Gilberto Pontojá. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Grey Wolves won the game, 5-2. In spite of the loss, Pontojá was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Sjaak Bonne earned the save for Vancouver, his 3rd of the year. The BC fall to 6-11 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Vancouver second baseman Juanito González helped the Grey Wolves to the win. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the 31-year old second baseman stroked a run-scoring double. For the game, González was 1-3 with a double.

"Baseball is about momentum," said González, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
