Phillips Excels in San Bernardino Win
Getting a good performance from first baseman Hal Phillips, the San Bernardino Grasshoppers defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 9-6. Phillips went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles, while adding 6 RBI for the Grasshoppers. San Bernardino starter Gerhard Karge was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 6-7. The Grasshoppers' win now puts them at 51-47.

San Bernardino took a 7-3 lead on Phillips's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off António García in the bottom of the sixth, propelled San Bernardino to the win.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Phillips told the San Bernardino Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
