Palladium Sox Come Back Late, Nip Screaming Eagles

Diego Cartaya could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Mercer Island Screaming Eagles lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Virginia Palladium Sox at Mercer Island Grounds. José Santos nailed down his 11th save. Virginia is now 55-42, Mercer Island 65-32.
Virginia used the clutch hitting of Andre Fezzik to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Palladium Sox the lead, 3-2. For the game, Fezzik had 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Fezzik, "but we really needed that win."
