Thunder Hawks Best Shooters in Pitching Duel
|
It was a good time at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Springfield Shooters and Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks get after it.
Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks starter Laurel Yanny was in fine form against the Springfield Shooters at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, leading his team to a 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Yanny, now 7-4. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2.
Roberto Baca had a big run-scoring double for the Thunder Hawks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Ft. Polk South leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a forkball from Richard Arnie and stroked the double to center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 2-0.
"Laurel's tempo and rhythm were good," said Thunder Hawks manager John Anderson. "He was the key to us winning."
Ft. Polk South improves to 66-28 with the win. They lead their division by 2˝ games.
