Screaming Eagles Win Another One
|
Byron Ballard led Mercer Island to a win over Ft. Polk South. The final score was 10-5. Ballard scored 2 times, while going 2 for 4. The first baseman also was credited with 3 runs batted in. Mercer Island reliever Jeremy Gonzáles was the winner. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Juan Espinosa. Ryan Fry earned the save for Mercer Island, his 16th of the year.
Mercer Island used the clutch hitting of Mikael Evangjeli to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 7-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I like the roll we're on right now," said Evangjeli after the game.
