Screaming Eagles Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles downed the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 4-2, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Fernando Flores led the way, going 3-for-5 for Mercer Island. The win was Jacob Swanson's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. António Morterero took the loss for Ft. Polk South. Ryan Fry was credited with the save for Mercer Island, his 15th of the season.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Flores delivered big-time for Mercer Island, stroking a dramatic 2-run home run off Ralph Owens. The game-changing hit put the Screaming Eagles on top, 4-2.
In postgame remarks, Flores said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
The second-place Screaming Eagles have won 6 straight games.
