Loons Win Thriller, 4-3
|
Loony Bin was sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.
The Minnesota Loons took Mercer Island pitcher Brian Duncan's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Loony Bin. The final score had Minnesota getting past the Screaming Eagles, 4-3. Duncan went 8.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 3. Minnesota reliever Adrián Porras picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Ryan Fry shouldered the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Craig Edwards came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Mercer Island pitcher Lonnie Zavala, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Minnesota on top, 4-3.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Edwards.
Minnesota's record now stands at 34-38, placing them 5th in the Premier AA.
