Baby Lakers Fall to Harbor Whales, 7-1
|
Greenport and Bompton got after it at Field of the Browns.
The Harbor Whales grabbed a win, 7-1, at Field of the Browns, overcoming a fine effort from Bompton pitcher Jason Cormack. Cormack went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Kevin Parker was credited with the save for Greenport, his 3rd of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Greenport, had it not been for Pleun Vleugel, the 19-year old first baseman . Vleugel contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Greenport up, 2-1.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Vleugel.
Greenport has an impressive 55-27 record.
