Sea Dogs Come Back Late to Clip Uruguayans
|
The Maine Sea Dogs took Germantown pitcher Britt Casey's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Sea Dogs Park. The final score had Maine getting past the Uruguayans, 5-4. Casey went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 4. Jason Cannon, credited with the save, is now 15 for 16 in save opportunities. With the win, Maine has a record of 42-25. Germantown falls to 24-43.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Eric Davis came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Germantown pitcher Kent Griffin, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Maine on top, 5-4.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Davis told the Maine Bulletin.
