Northwest Territory Beavers starter António León was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Capital Hill Interns, 6-2. León went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-3. Northwest Territory now has a 3-game win streak.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning when the Beavers sent 20-year-old designated hitter Carlos Valle to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Northwest Territory on top, 4-2.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Beavers manager Tom Carlson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
