Baby Lakers Fall Short, 7-6, at Amarillo
|
The Amarillo Submarinos downed the Bompton Baby Lakers, 7-6, at Terriers Ballpark. The Submarinos were led by Jorge Esparza, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was Nelson Qudrio's in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Noah Birkbeck took the loss for Bompton. Donovan Poe earned the save for Amarillo, his 3rd of the year.
Had Koi-sho Xú not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Xú hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Submarinos.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Amarillo manager Seth Rice.
The Submarinos, now 25-23, have won 4 in a row.
