3-2 Oaks Win over Cattlemen Evens Season Record
|
Oakland rode a good effort from starter Kevin Nogilny to beat the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at Oakland Coliseum. The final score was 3-2. Oakland reliever Jeff Mahl picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Allen Werner took the loss. The Oaks now have a mark of 21-21.
Tied up with the Cattlemen in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Oaks got a boost from catcher Colin O'Connell. With a runner on 1st, O'Connell saw a 1-2 changeup from Allen Werner and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Oakland on top, 2-0.
"We played hard and won," said Nogilny. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
