Thrilling Victory Pushes Snowpeople Win Streak to 5
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople topped the Amarillo Warheads, 4-2, with youngster Qi-zhen Shen playing a key role. Shen was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Snowpeople in the win. Ellesmere Island reliever Moritz van den Borst was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. Josse Gavicho took the loss for Amarillo. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Snowpeople.
Shen had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count slider from Leo Cassidy, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Snowpeople a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Shen.
"It was a solid team effort," said Shen after the game.
