Submarinos Score Late to Upend Biscuits, 7-3
|
The Submarinos had to overcome a good performance from Montgomery pitcher Fernando Lujino to claim a 7-3 win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Lujino went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The winner was Artie O'Neal in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Ron Holland took the loss. Donovan Poe closed the door for Amarillo, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Amarillo used the bat of Barend Huijbregts to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Submarinos ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Huijbregts. "More importantly, I had a good game."
Amarillo now has a 3-game win streak.
