Tight Tilt Goes to Fire, 2-1
|
Franklin starter Hank Lynn put a stranglehold on the Long Island offense. The left-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Fire to a 2-1 win. Ricardo Méndez locked down his 3rd save. Franklin is now 45-46, while Long Island is 51-40.
Early in the game, second baseman Bobby Verstraten had a run-scoring single for Franklin. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Fire on top, 2-1.
"We were in it," said Long Island manager Martin Stewart. "We just didn't score enough runs."
