In a tight game between the Long Island Ducks and the Ballard Beavers, pitcher Ian Carr was terrific on the mound. The Long Island right-hander was named the player of the game in Long Island's 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Carr, now 4-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Kenny Pollock nailed down his 26th save.

Long Island first baseman Kenny Wright contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 60th hit of the season and put the Ducks ahead, 2-0.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Wright told the Long Island Today.

Long Island, at 51-38, sits in second place in the Silver R.
