Submarinos Turn Back Montgomery, 3-1
|
The Amarillo Submarinos took Montgomery pitcher Stephen McQueen's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Terriers Ballpark. The final score had Amarillo getting past the Biscuits, 3-1. McQueen went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 4. The winner was Nelson Qudrio in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Stephen McQueen took the loss. The Biscuits fall to 4-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 2039 season.
The Submarinos used some clutch hitting to beat the Biscuits, a good example being the at-bat of Bud Mullins in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, Mullins gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Mullins, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
