Fire Score Late to Upend Snowpeople, 3-1
|
The Franklin Fire topped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 3-1, in USSL Rookie action at Lawmen Ballpark. The player of the game was Franklin pitcher and Livonia, Michigan native Kevin Moran. Franklin reliever Ricardo Méndez picked up the win to move to 6-5. Marcos Lucero suffered the loss. Franklin is 40-44 and Ellesmere Island, with the loss, 42-42.
Franklin won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Ki-seop Ch'oe on the mound for Ellesmere Island, pinch hitter Francisco Romero hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Fire fans to their feet.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Moran said.
