The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople defeated the Franklin Fire, 5-3, in USSL Rookie action at Lawmen Ballpark, with Ellesmere Island pitcher Danny Byrd named player of the game. Byrd got the win, improving to 5-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Byrd allowed 2 earned runs. Hirokazu Morita earned the save for Ellesmere Island, his 8th.

Ellesmere Island used the timely hitting of Edward Kisiner to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Snowpeople ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Kisiner told a Ellesmere Island News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
