Beavers Deal Snowpeople Painful Loss
Fans who came to Field of the Sunchasers watched the Ballard Beavers and the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople fight to the finish.

Ballard Beavers starter Minato Futamura pitched a strong game against the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople at Field of the Sunchasers, leading the Beavers to a 4-3 win. Ballard reliever Bernd Elders was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Moritz van den Borst.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 3-3, pinch hitter Reynold Jongenelen won it for Ballard. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Jongenelen hit a 0-1 slider from Ki-seop Ch'oe for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Ellesmere Island manager Billy Strauss said following the tough loss.

At 42-39, the Beavers are currently 5th in the Silver R.
