Ducks Edge Past Hotspur Academy, 2-1

The Long Island Ducks topped the Phoenix Hotspur Academy, 2-1, in USSL Rookie action at Ducks Park. The player of the game was Long Island pitcher and Bordentown, New Jersey native Jim Sousa. The winner was Jaake Ooyendijk in relief. His record improves to 1-0. António González took the loss. The second-place Ducks have won 4 in a row.
Long Island took a 2-1 lead on Benoît Baudry's 82nd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Baudry hit in the bottom of the 13th, left Phoenix pitcher António González visibly frustrated.
In comments to the Long Island Today, Sousa admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
