Warheads Stymie Ladue, Take 3-1 Win
|
Gregg Booth pitched well, but his team, the Ladue Rams, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the Amarillo Warheads at Ballpark of Wellsville. Roberto Punyed got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Rams to 1 earned run on 2 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Steve Hernández, credited with the save, is now 5 for 7 in save opportunities.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Hans Filemonsen to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Warheads on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Filemonsen. "And not try to do too much."
The 8th-place Rams have dropped 5 straight games.
