Ducks Clip Snowpeople in Tight Contest
|
Long Island starter Jim Sousa pitched effectively against the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople at The Igloo. The right-hander led his team to a 6-4 win. Long Island reliever Fergus Embery picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jong-beom Park shouldered the loss. Long Island is third in the Silver R with a record of 36-25.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Blair Jordan came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Ellesmere Island pitcher Jong-beom Park, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Long Island on top, 5-4.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Sousa told the Long Island Today. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
