Warheads Score Late, Stun Fire, 6-2
|
Franklin got a terrific performance from pitcher Ricardo Méndez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Amarillo Warheads. Amarillo won the Ballpark of Henderson contest, 6-2. Méndez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Amarillo reliever Yin-zhen Wu was credited with the win, to go to 7-1. Gan Hui took the loss for Franklin. The Warheads improve their record to 28-18 with the win over Franklin.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Curtis Tiger, who is tied for 6th in the SR in total bases with 86, drew a walk. The Warheads went on to win.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Amarillo manager Javier Trujillo. "Our pregame was pretty good."
