Victory Over Hotspur Academy Takes Hicksville to 29-16
|
Phoenix got a terrific performance from designated hitter Donald Martin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hicksville Hounds. Hicksville won the Hound Pound contest, 6-3. Martin was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hicksville reliever Henri Finiguerra got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Boris Klosner was tagged with the loss. An-shi Gou picked up the save, his 8th.
Hicksville took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Shi-yu Ting hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Hicksville in front, 4-3.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Ting told reporters after the game.
Hicksville goes to 29-16. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
