Warheads Dump Canucks, 8-5
|
The Amarillo Warheads beat the Moose Jaw Canucks, 8-5, at Ballpark of Henderson. The Warheads got a fine performance from left fielder Jim McCourtney, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a triple and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs. Amarillo reliever Yin-zhen Wu was credited with the win, to go to 6-1. Stephen Johnson took the loss for Moose Jaw. Carlos Taváres earned his 9th save in 10 tries.
António Hierro took Kjeld van Campen deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Warheads on top, 8-5. In all, Hierro had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said McCourtney.
The Warheads sit in second place in the Silver R with a record of 27-18.
