Victory Over Ducks Takes Amarillo to 24-16
|
The Amarillo Warheads grabbed a 7-2 win over the Long Island Ducks at Ducks Park. Amarillo left fielder Jim McCourtney went 2-5 with a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Carlos Taváres locked down his 8th save. Amarillo is now 24-16, Long Island 24-16.
McCourtney came through with some timely hitting for Amarillo. With the score 2-2 in the top of the fourth and two down, McCourtney hit a 1-1 changeup for a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season made it 5-2, Amarillo.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Amarillo manager Javier Trujillo. "Our pregame was pretty good."
