Warheads Score Late, Upend Beavers, 3-2
|
Amarillo beat Ballard at Ballpark of Henderson, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Bhagavan Antle, who earned player of the game honors. Amarillo reliever Carlos Taváres picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Héctor Salazar took the loss. Gabriel Leeds nailed down his 5th save.
Shawn Kyllo drove in one run for Amarillo. The 18-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe Starr. It was his 19th RBI of the season.
Kyllo attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The Warheads have an impressive 19-10 record.
