Ducks Stymie Ballard, Take 1-0 Win

The Long Island Ducks beat the Ballard Beavers, 1-0, at Ducks Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Kenny Wright, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-3 with 3 singles. The winner was Ulbert Pals in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Armas Tykkyläinen took the loss. Kenny Pollock closed the game out for Long Island, earning his 5th save.
Long Island grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Wright hit a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season put the Ducks out in front, 1-0.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Ballard manager Theo Graves, "let me know."
The Ducks, now 12-12, have won 4 in a row.
