Beavers Roll to 8-3 Win Over Canucks
|
The Ballard Beavers relied on the hitting of first baseman Dan Haines to stop the Moose Jaw Canucks, 8-3. For the game, Haines went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Leo Madaev got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Joe Starr picked up the save for Ballard, his 1st of the year.
Ballard used the timely hitting of William Lane to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Haines said. "We did a good job of that today."
The Beavers raised their record to 8-10.
