Ducks Turn Back Ellesmere Island, 3-2
|
The Long Island Ducks topped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 3-2, in USSL Rookie action at Ducks Park. The player of the game was Long Island pitcher and Genoa, Italy native Emilio Zatori. Zatori, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Losses have been few and far between for the Snowpeople, who are now 11-4.
Alexandre Prost swatted a solo home run for Long Island in the bottom of the fifth. The center fielder went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Ellesmere Island skipper Billy Strauss, "and it cost us."
