Ellesmere Island starter Will Smiley had a strong outing against the Long Island Ducks at Ducks Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Smiley, now 2-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. Hirokazu Morita closed the game out for Ellesmere Island, earning his 2nd save.

Ellesmere Island used the clutch hitting of Obiniana Romulo to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Snowpeople the lead, 2-0. For the game, Romulo had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Smiley said.

The Ducks fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start in 2039.
