Ducks Sneak Past Snowpeople, 2-1
|
Well, that's how to end a game in style.
Ellesmere Island pitcher Danny Byrd gave the Ducks all they could handle, but in the end, Long Island left Ducks Park with a 2-1 win. Byrd allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 9 innings. Long Island reliever Kenny Pollock picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Hirokazu Morita was saddled with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Long Island designated hitter Kenny Wright, facing Hirokazu Morita, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Ducks the 2-1 win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Wright told the Long Island Today.
Losses have been rare for the Snowpeople, who are now 10-3.
