Snowpeople Subdue Baby Blues, 4-1

The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople satisfied the home crowd at The Igloo, treating them to a season-opening win, 4-1, over the Quebec City Baby Blues. Starting Pitcher Jorge Ortega was named player of the game for Ellesmere Island. Ortega got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 5.1 innings. Ortega allowed 1 earned run.
Obiniana Romulo drove in one run for Ellesmere Island. The 18-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off John Stevens. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Romulo said.
