Shockers Topple Centennial with Late Rally
Fort Knox got a terrific game from third baseman Sergio Morales. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Surprise, 8-7. Morales was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Surprise reliever Larry Carver, now 4-2. The loser was Hung-chang Wong. Dan Seymour closed it out for his 22nd save.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Bill Carney came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Fort Knox pitcher Hung-chang Wong, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Surprise on top, 8-7.

"I had a good game," said Carney. "Winning makes it even better."

The second-place Shockers are now 48-40, the Centennial 48-40.
