The Fort Knox Centennial picked up a win at Hillandale Grounds, knocking off the Valley View Cougars, 5-4. On the mound for Fort Knox was right-hander Kevin Gabriel, who played a pivotal role in the win. Gabriel went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-4. Charles Boysen, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities.
In the top of the 6th, right fielder Yoshiki Shimizu gave Fort Knox the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Centennial had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Valley View pitcher Mike Rowe changed that -- and Fort Knox went on to win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Fort Knox manager Justin Saginov.
After today's action, Fort Knox sits at 47-38, while Valley View falls to 35-50.
