The Shockers grabbed a win, 6-1, at Titans Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Crowley pitcher Nick Joseph. Joseph went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Reliever Larry Carver picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. Nick Joseph took the loss. Surprise has 3 straight wins, Crowley 3 straight losses.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the eighth inning when the Shockers sent 19-year-old first baseman Pete Schmidt to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Surprise on top, 3-1.

Schmidt told a Surprise Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
