Redwood starter Korbin Dallas put a stranglehold on the Valley View offense. The left-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Rhinos to a 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Dallas, now 4-7. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Earning his 5th save for Redwood was Tex Owens.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter De-wei Chi came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Valley View pitcher Theodosio Brederode, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Redwood on top, 2-1.

Afterward, Rhinos manager Jerome Perry was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."

Redwood is now 30-41. Valley View is 29-42.
