Octopi Saddle Rhinos with 6-1 Loss
|
The Ogallala Octopi topped the Redwood Rhinos, 6-1, with youngster Zane Atkins playing a key role. Atkins was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Octopi in the win. Otton Asmus, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Rhinos to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Octopi.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Octopi were trailing 1-0. Sergei Adjubei delivered a two-out 2-run single for Ogallala, catapulting his team into the lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Atkins told the Ogallala Citizen.
