Cougars Pick Up 5-3 Win
|
Valley View Cougars starter Mike Rowe was in fine form against the Ogallala Octopi at Hillandale Grounds, leading his team to a 5-3 win. In 7.1 innings, Rowe surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Keith Stinson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
The Cougars got a big at-bat from left fielder Brian Webb. For the game, Webb was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Valley View a 5-2 lead.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Webb.
Valley View is now 19-22, while Ogallala is 21-20.
