Shockers Take Down Rhinos, 6-3
|
The Surprise Shockers topped the Redwood Rhinos, 6-3, with youngster Bob Byrd playing a key role. Byrd was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks for the Shockers in the win. Jorge Bigro got the win, improving to 3-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Dan Seymour earned the save for Surprise, his 5th of the year.
Surprise took a 6-2 lead on Vicente Casaus's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Redwood pitcher Daryl Clague in the bottom of the seventh.
"We played hard and won," said Byrd. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Shockers raised their record to 18-9.
