Fans who gathered at Hillandale Grounds saw a good contest between the Crowley Cajuns and Valley View Cougars.

The Valley View Cougars got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Baker, but the Crowley Cajuns still won the game, 5-3. Baker was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings allowing 5 runs. Shawn Umble picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Steve Baker was tagged with the loss.

David Gustafson helped out the Crowley cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a walk. He scored 2 times.

"We'll savor this win," Gustafson told the Crowley Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
