Otters Come Up Short at Redwood
|
The Redwood Rhinos picked up a win at The Zoo, knocking off the Tulsa Otters, 3-2. Starting pitcher Eugene Bell, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Bell, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Tex Owens picked up the save for Redwood, his 3rd of the year.
The Rhinos got a lift from third baseman Dave Richards who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth inning off Tomás Ramírez. It was his 4th walk of the season and put Redwood in front, 2-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Redwood skipper Jerome Perry.
The win gives the Rhinos a record of 8-8.
