Shockers Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
The Surprise Shockers bested the Valley View Cougars by a score of 5-2, with designated hitter Bill Carney getting the main credit. On the day, Carney was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Shockers. The Shockers, now 11-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Carney had a game-changing single in the top of the sixth. On a 1-1 cutter from Steve Baker, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Shockers a 2-1 lead. It was the 19th hit of the year for Carney.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Carney.
