Zhang Slams 5 Hits for Valley View
The Valley View Cougars stopped the Surprise Shockers by a score of 13-9 at Hillandale Grounds today, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Zhong-yan Zhang. The 19-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Zhang said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Zhang did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Shockers.

"Not much that I can say," offered Surprise manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Zhong-yan Zhang singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.

This year Zhang has hit at a .426 clip with 10 RBIs, no home runs and 5 runs scored.
